Eldermusik employs experienced teachers from the communities surrounding the senior centers and residences to deliver programming.
Teachers are vetted, supported and supervised by the seasoned and reliable Eldermusik team.
Founder Lee Feldman has been on the piano faculty of Third Street Music School Settlement, in New York City, for over 10 years and is the president of the teacher’s union. He is a critically acclaimed pianist and singer/songwriter and former Mercury Records recording artist.
He was inspired to launch Eldermusik by his success using jazz, classical, and pop music to reach people of all ages. Lee’s approach treats each student as an individual, and emphasizes exploration, creative involvement and intellectual understanding.
Improvisation is also encouraged during the lessons, which is fun for everybody but is especially effective in reaching people with cognitive challenges. Lee leads a team of artists and administrators with decades of combined experience in performance, teaching and arts administration.
